ASSOCIATE TRANSPORTATION PLANNER

The Associate Transportation Planner assists the Deputy Director with the administration of Proposition 116's five grant programs. The $1.9 billion grant program includes the rail, bicycle, waterborne ferry, non-urban counties, and rail museum programs. Typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Working directly with program applicants to ensure that application and allocation submittals are in compliance with Commission policies and guidelines.

Preparing analyses and making recommendations to the Commission regarding application and allocation requests.

Researching and preparing various written reports on specific Commission policies and making recommendations on a broad range of subjects such as transit project planning and program delivery, financial matters, and administrative and transportation issues.

Monitoring the status of project applications, allocation requests, bond fund proceeds availability and expenditures to date using spreadsheet and data base management software applications on a personal computer.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Good analytical skills !!!

Knowledge/Experience with grants to local agencies and project monitoring

Experience with the reviewing of grantees' capital/operating financial plans

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel for Windows.
