GOVERNOR DAVIS APPOINTS CALIFORNIA
TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONER
SACRAMENTO - Governor
Gray Davis today appointed James "Jim" W. Kellogg to the California
Transportation Commission.
"I am pleased Jim has accepted my
offer to be a part of my administration," said Governor Davis.. "Jim has made a
career of looking out for the interests of working men and women. He has the experience
and common sense to keep California moving forward."
Kellogg, 55, has been a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of
the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada (UA) since 1976.
From 1992 to 1996, Kellogg was the UA's special representative to the Washington, DC
office. Since 1997, he has served as the UA's international representative for the states
of California and Hawaii.
A resident of Concord, California, Kellogg has also served on the board of directors of
the Coalition of Labor and Business for Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano and Napa counties
and was also a member of the Contra Costa County Development Association.
The California Transportation Commission (CTC) is responsible for the programming and
allocating of funds for the construction of highway, passenger rail and transit
improvements throughout California. The CTC also advises and assists the Secretary of
Business, Transportation and Housing Agency and the Legislature in formulating and
evaluating state policies and plans for California's transportation programs.
Members do not receive a salary. This position requires Senate confirmation.
